Digestion Problems
For occasional heartburn or something, a person can take antacids or something, but when it happens often, it is probably a sign of lack of fiber in the diet. Fruit and vegetable juices have no fiber, grains have very little fiber, potatoes have little fiber. Meat, eggs, and milk have no fiber.
Probably the most important fiber is soluble fiber which is found in vegetables, fruits, beans and peas. Not the juices, but the actual produce. Soluble fiber dissolves in water, so boiling something and pouring out the water is also pouring out the soluble fiber.
When I get heartburn, it is like the food is not going down. It seems to sit in the stomach for hours. Fiber makes the digestive system work much better, so that the food leaves the stomach in a half hour or so.
Another symptom of heartburn is a strange feeling in the base of the throat.
A lack of fiber in the diet can cause many other problems.
Fiber supplements are good, but it is ideal to get ones fiber from food. The reason is that food contains several different kinds of fiber. Some kinds of fiber do other useful things in addition to the main function.
