Persuasive Speech Topics
Here's an education and poverty related Persuasive Speech Topic. A Right is something you do not have to purchase or qualify for, yet many of our so called "Rights" we are required to purchase or qualify for. Yet when we speak of the Right to Education, it is always basic education. This provides additional difficulty for the poor in leaving poverty. In Capitalism, we motivate people with a desire to make more money, but how does preventing the poor equal access to education motivate them?
If you are looking for poverty related Persuasive Speech Topics here's some ideas. We blame the poor for being poor, yet every chance we get, we prey on them. Extracting what little money they have. As an example, banks often charge $20 overdraft fees, even on $5 checks. If five $5 checks and one $100 check all come in on the same day, the largest check will be drawn first, resulting in all following checks to overdraft. That's $100 in unnecessary overdraft charges. I don't know if all banks take the largest checks first, but one would strongly suspect that almost do.

The military draft would also make a good Persuasive Speech Topic. Here's a
website that gives some really amazing information about the fight against the military draft. The military draft is illegal and unconstitutional in the USA, yet they still waste money on the Selective Service, and force people to register. Why? This website will help you understand what is going on. One example of some the the amazing information you'll find there, is that Tom Bondhus, who was a complete amateur in the field of law, without even legal training, was able to
subpoena the President of the United States to testify at a military draft trial. Not possible you say? Come see!!! You're sure to find many interested Persuasive Speech Topics in that area.
Just one word of warning though, don't ever tell anyone not to register, 'cause it is illegal to tell someone to break a law, regardless of how absurd, immoral and unconstitutional that law is. This is a Persuasive Speech Topic that requires some guts, but if you are not afraid the government, you are welcome to it. While we're at it, here's another one for you. Do we have Freedom of Speech, when we have a law on the books that no one is ever prosecuted for unless they speak out against the draft?
For a challenging Persuasive Speech Topic, you could use the Mercury Filling Debate. The "experts" believe that tooth fillings with over 50% mercury (a highly poisonous metal) are safe. Name Changing for Marriage. Some say the current system is sexist. Here's an
alternative system.
If you've done much writing, you've probably noticed, there the English Language is missing a word. We use the term he/she to make up for it. Sometimes we use the words "they" or "them" in a singular use, creating a bad sounding grammar problem. As an alternative, we could use the word ve (singular of they), vem (singular form of them), vez (possessive form, pronounced with short e sound), and ve's (conjunction of ve and is, long e sound) . Of course, you have to do the persuading. That is what persuasive speech topics are all about.
